The citizenship of four political figures, including pro-Russian Viktor Medvedchuck, who was transferred to Russia last year in a prisoner swap deal, was revoked by Zelensky.
Zelensky says he decided to terminate the citizenship of four persons, including Leonidovych Derkach, Taras Romanovych Kozak, Renat Ravliyovyh Kuzmin, and Vitor Volodymyrovych, in his night videos.
Zelensky says actions will be appropriate if people’s deputies choose to serve not the people of Ukraine but murderers who come to Ukraine.
Medvedchuk headed the pro-Russian party, the opposition platform “For Life in Ukraine,” and was a close ally of Putin.
Mdvedchuk had a temporary downfall after he lost the re-run election to Viktor Yushchenko but the establishment of three television networks and a string of publications made him the biggest threat to Zelensky.
Ukraine’s special services arrested him in April last year and accused him of high treason for attempting to steal natural resources from Russia-annexed Crimea and handing military secrets to Russia.
He was later in September exchanged with another 50 prisoners for 250 Ukrainian imprisoned soldiers.
