The Lagos state Police Command has confirmed the arrest of six individuals of armed theft gangs for allegedly dispossessing members of the public in their valuables within the Ajegunle and Alaba-Rago areas of the country.
The state Police Public members of the family Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the arrest in a statement on Saturday, stated a domestically-made gun, a motorbike, and two phones have been recovered from the suspects.
Noting that efforts had been on to arrest other fleeing individuals of the 2 gangs, Hundeyin said the suspects would be charged.
He stated, “Detectives attached to the Lagos nation Police Command have arrested six armed robbers belonging to 2 distinct gangs infamous for dispossessing unsuspecting victims in their valuables within Ajegunle and Alaba-Rago regions of the country.
“The arrest followed investigations into reports of activities of the robbers in the areas. The suspects, Chukwuemeka Emmanuel, 21; Chukwuebuka Innocent, 24; Umaru Isah, 21; Emmanuel Ita, 19; Olayitan Ayinde, 18; and Moshood Ayinde, 25; were arrested in different areas of the state, while efforts are being intensified to arrest other fleeing members of the gangs and recover other weapons.
“One unregistered TVS motorcycle, one locally-made gun, one Infinix Note 7 and one iPhone 7 were recovered from the suspects. The suspects will be arraigned at the end of the investigation.”
Hundeyin stated the kingdom Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, asked Lagosians to right away alert the police to suspicious happenings of their localities to allow the police to rid the nation of crime and illegal activity.
