A group known as the Igbo Mandate Movement Group has urged the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to zone the Office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives under the 10th Assembly to the SouthEast zone and has also suggested that Honourable Benjamin Kalu (Bende Federal Constituency) is the best candidate for the position as the race for the leadership of the 10th National Assembly intensifies.
This was announced at a news conference that took place in Enugu.
While speaking to participants and members of the press, the coordinator, Mr. Igboeli Arinzechukwu Napoleon, provided arguments on why the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, should zone the seat to the SouthEast Region.
Igboeli stated that as one of the nation’s two primary ethnic groups, the NdiIgbo had a responsibility to start its own search for its road to the center following the election of Senators Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima as the next president and vice president, respectively.
In order to preserve regional balance, justice, and equity, he said that only four zones could fairly lobby for positions inside the National Assembly. He further claimed that it would be common sense politics to zone these jobs to these regions.
Igboeli claimed that a variety of inviolable realities had led to the decision to canvass for the Office of the Speaker to the South East.
