In response to alleged irregularities in the collation of the results of the governorship election held on Saturday, hundreds of supporters of both the governor candidates for the Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party, Chijioke Edeoga and Peter Mbah, stormed the INEC office in Enugu State on Monday.
The PDP candidate’s supporters flocked in large numbers to INEC headquarters and asked that the Returning Officer declare the results for Nkanu East, whose collation had been postponed due to alleged fraud and tampering with governorship results.
The PDP supporters urged INEC to certify their candidate as the victor of the governorship election.
They argued that at this point, neither the Collation Officer nor the Returning Officer nor the Resident Electoral Commission had the authority to void the results.
