According to a statement released on Saturday, the Chadian government has removed Jan-Christian Gordon Kricke, the German ambassador, for having a “impolite attitude.”
An official government spokesman stated that the decision was “driven by the rude attitude and the lack of regard for diplomatic conventions by the German ambassador, as specified by the Vienna Convention.”
Although no more justification was provided, local media sources suggest that the action may have been motivated by ambassador Kricke’s criticism of the present transitional government.
Kricke was given 48 hours to leave the country; he has been the German ambassador to Chad since 2021.
