Electoral College Confirms Joe Biden as the Next U.S. President

Joe Biden crossed the 270 marks needed to be the next US president after 55 electoral colleges from California supported him.

Reports indicate that President Trump has been putting pressure on Republican legislators to choose from the people who will support him but it failed.

Monday’s vote gained outsized importance in light of Trump’s unprecedented attempt to subvert the procedure because of what he wrongly claimed in the Nov. 3 election was systematic voter fraud.

The most populous state in the United States, California, gave Biden the 270 votes needed to win the Electoral College as his 55 voters overwhelmingly cast ballots for him and his running mate, Kamala Harris.

On Monday, President-elect Joe Biden delivered a robust rebuke to the assaults by President Donald Trump on the validity of his election, hours after securing the state-by-state Electoral College vote that formally decides the presidency of the United States.

“In this battle for the soul of America, democracy prevailed,” Biden said in a prime-time speech from his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware. “Now it’s time to turn the page, as we’ve done throughout our history – to unite, to heal.”

On Jan. 20, Biden and Harris will be sworn in as the first woman, the first Black male, and the first Asian American to become vice-president-elect.
