The Rivers State Police Command fired Inspector Michael Odey for allegedly kidnapping and extorting $3,000 from two people at gunpoint in Rivers.
The spokesperson for the command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the news in a statement released in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
The cases of two other officers, ASP Doubara Edonyabo and ASP Talent Mungo, who were reportedly part of the incident, have been sent to the police headquarters for further investigation.
Iringe-Koko mentioned that the suggestion has been sent to the Secretary of the Nigeria Police Force for the required action.
Edonyabo and Mungo’s disciplinary cases will be reviewed by the Inspector General of Police and the Police Service Commission to ensure a fair outcome.
