On Friday, the united nations and its allies issued an appeal for nearly us$400 million to end extreme hunger and hunger in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states, in the country’s northeast.
Ms. Stephanie Tremblay, the un secretary-general’s assistant spokesperson, appeared at a news conference in new york.
“This funding will enable humanitarian organizations to quickly expand food and nutrition assistance, as well as clean water and sanitation, as well as healthcare, shelter, and logistics.
The united nations have released a total of US $18 million to kickstart the response.
“Martin Griffith, the emergency response coordinator, has received US$ 9 million from the Central Emergency Response Fund (cerf), and Matthias Schmale, the humanitarian coordinator, will receive another US $9 million from the Nigeria humanitarian fund,” she said.
