At least dozens of civilians and soldiers were slain on Saturday and Sunday as the conflict between two generals in Sudan reached a new level of brutality.
Media sources claimed that violence had gotten worse near the general headquarters of the Sudanese army in the capital Khartoum, but it is still unclear who is in charge.
The World Health Organization reported on Sunday that there have been at least 83 confirmed deaths and 1,126 confirmed injuries as a result of fierce combat in Sudan between the army and the powerful paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces.
At least 56 civilians and dozens of troops have died so far, according to a Sudanese medical organization, which reported the number on Sunday.
