Several Nigerian students were recently evacuated from their school in Khartoum, and their parents are expressing concern about their well-being. As of Sunday evening, some parents have reported that their children, who departed in the initial group last Wednesday, have yet to enter Egypt, much less arrive in Cairo, the country’s capital, where they can board a flight back to Nigeria.
These parents spoke to Daily Trust, sharing their worries about the state of their children after three days of travel.
An anonymous parent has disclosed that his two children, who were part of a group of students traveling in a convoy of four buses, have been abandoned by their drivers. According to the parent, the children reported that they were left stranded near the border between Sudan and Egypt.
In the meantime, 18 buses are stated to have left with the scholars and different Nigerians from the Sudan’s International University of Africa (IUA) in Khartoum on Saturday.
