Slovakia has disassociated itself from the rumors, saying it has joined the league of nations willing to send Leopard battle tanks to Ukraine.
In a statement released by the Slovakian Defense Minister, Jaroslav Nad reported that the country is not prepared to send any Leopard tanks to help Ukraine in its fight against Russia.
Nad stressed that the country will use the Leopard battle tanks to replace the fighting vehicles send to Ukraine since the inception of the war.
Jaroslav Nad disclosed that the agreement with Germany is that, the promised Leopard 2A4s would be delivered to Slovakia, not as a donor to the war in Ukraine.
Slovakia has procured 15 Leopard battle tanks from Germany, while only one was delivered to them in December by the former German defense minister, Christina Lambrecht.
Slovakia said it’s expecting the remaining 14 tanks by the end of 2023.
