The 14th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi, was deposed, according to Rabi’u Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, or NNPP. The dethronement would be reviewed by the new government of Abba Yusuf, the governor-elect of Kano.
This was spoken by Kwankwaso on Saturday in a now-viral video.
Recall that Abdullahi Ganduje, the departing governor, deposed Sanusi, who had been emir during Kwankwaso’s final term in office.
When the old Emir was installed, Ganduje served as the deputy governor.
On March 9, 2020, Sanusi was deposed, exiled from Kano, and transferred to Loko, a rural hamlet in Nasarawa State, while the costs of the emirate under his control were investigated.
