In order to successfully conduct the scheduled governorship and house of assembly elections on Saturday, a coalition of civil society organizations working under the auspices of the West African Civil Society Forum (WACSOF) have urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to address technical and logistical issues.
The committee highlighted that even while the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machine is a positive development, operating it requires considerable skill on the part of the election officials.
They advised the electoral authority to make sure logistical issues were resolved because late officers and material deliveries to polling places jeopardize the integrity of the vote.
Dr. Sanwo Olatunji-David, president of WACSOF, stated during a briefing in Abuja that INEC still has a few days before the polls to fix any anticipated technological issues. We will give INEC advice on how to optimize and increase data capacity as well as other technical specifications pertaining to results upload to INEC portal.
