The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has initiated a probe into Zamfara State governor, Bello Matawalle, regarding an alleged N70 billion fraud.
the anti-graft agency also confirmed that Sale Mamman, a former Minister of Power, who was recently apprehended over an alleged N22 billion fraud, is presently in custody.
During a press briefing on Thursday, EFCC Chairman Abdulrasheed Bawa addressed the matter and urged the public not to be swayed by Matawalle’s recent accusations.
Recall that the governor had leveled allegations against Bawa, challenging the commission to investigate members of President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet.
In response, Bawa, speaking through EFCC’s Director of Public Affairs, Osita Nwajah, explained that it was not their obligation to dignify Matawalle’s demands but opted to clarify the situation.
