Members of the Western allies have applauded the decision of Germany to finally free its Leopard tanks by sending them to Ukraine.
Following the decision of Berlin to deliver its modern battle tanks which are described as the best to Ukraine, other defense allies applaud the decision describing it as a game changer.
Germany also approved any intending countries who are willing to deliver its German-made tanks to Ukraine, saying collectively they can provide Ukraine with 88 of the Leopard battle tanks.
Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, who has been at the top of putting pressure on Germany thank Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s decision on their commitment to helping Ukraine.
“The decision to send Leopards to Ukraine is a big step towards stopping Russia,” he wrote on Twitter.
British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak also welcomed Berlin’s decision to help in strengthening the defensive firepower of Ukraine, saying his government is ready to deliver 14 of its Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine.
“Together, we are accelerating our efforts to ensure Ukraine wins this war and secures a lasting peace,” the British PM disclosed on Twitter.
Finland and Spain also have indicated their willingness to send Leopard tanks to Ukraine after Berlin’s consent.
