Four Americans who were abducted in northeastern Mexico last week are being sought after by the US and Mexico.
The suspected attackers opened fire on the US citizens as they were travelling through Matamoros in Tamaulipas state in a white minivan.
The US authorities claimed that after that, they were put in a car and driven away.
The claim made by Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador that Americans had crossed the border to obtain medicine has not been validated by the US.
The Americans that were abducted on Friday are still gone, and their identities are unknown.
The four American citizens’ release is being sought, according to President López Obrador, who claimed that his “entire government” is working on it.
At the US Embassy, he spoke with Ken Salazar.
