The fourth day of the Nigeria Union of Teachers’ strike in Akwa Ibom State has been canceled.
The strike was started to demand answers to problems involving member welfare and the non-payment of allowances.
Following a late Sunday night meeting behind closed doors, a peaceful solution was reached between the state government and the union’s leadership.
The meeting was held in Government House in Uyo, under the direction of the state governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel.
After the meeting, Mr. Aniefiok Nkom, the state commissioner for labor and manpower development, gave a press conference and stated that the government and the labor leaders had discussed and reached an agreement on the issues that had arisen.
