The transition of power in Kano state has been marred by allegations of sabotage and undermining by the outgoing government of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, according to the Gubernatorial Transition Committee (GTC) of the governor-elect, Abba Kabir Yusuf.
The GTC has accused the current administration of impeding the process of transition, but the state government has denied these allegations, stating that the GTC has not provided the names of its three nominees to the government’s transition committee.
On Friday, during a press conference, Abdullahi Baffa, the head of the Gubernatorial Transition Committee (GTC) for the governor-elect, expressed his concerns regarding the current government’s Directors nominating three members to the existing 17-member government transition committee. Baffa stated that this request was equivalent to forcing a joint transition committee between two opposing political parties.
Baffa stated to make sure the transition system is easily concluded earlier than the May 29 handover, the GTC might be having an interplay with all everlasting secretaries, heads of companies, and Directors of Personnel Management of all nearby authorities regions from May 2.
