Vice President Kashim Shettima met with the Super Eagles after their hard-earned victory over South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.
He praised the team’s “unmatched dedication and commitment” and pledged that the Federal Government will honour the team for their outstanding performance. The Super Eagles shared photos of the meeting on their official X account early Thursday.
The statement read, “The Federal Government has promised to reward the Super Eagles for their commitment and dedication in reaching the final of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivore.”
Vice President Kashim Shettima was joined by Governors Dapo Abiodun (Ogun) and Duoye Diri (Bayelsa), Minister for Youths Dr Jamila Ibrahim, oil mogul Wale Tinubu, FIFA Council member Amaju Pinnick, and NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau, among others. Together, they praised the Super Eagles for their impressive performance and their “remarkable dedication and commitment” to the game.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria advanced to the AFCON final after beating South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in a penalty shootout, with a score of 4-2. With this victory, Nigeria has now played in the semi-finals of the AFCON tournament more than any other country, a total of 15 times.
This is yet another impressive feat for the Super Eagles, who have shown resilience and determination throughout the tournament.
