The planned meeting with the Security Chiefs was delayed on Wednesday because the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, were not present.
The Senate has called upon the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and the Minister of Defence, Abubakar Badaru, to come before them next Tuesday to discuss the increasing insecurity in the country.
The Senate has extended invitations to the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, and the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, announced during the plenary that the invitations to the Ministers of Defence, the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), and the Minister of Interior would be postponed and extended.
He stated that these individuals must attend the session with the Service Chiefs for the benefit of the country.
The Senate had previously called upon the Service Chiefs, including the Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, Chief of Army Staff, Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Magaji Bichi, to provide updates on the worsening security conditions in the country.
