The Kano State Security Chiefs led by State Commissioner of Police Ahmed Gumel is currently in a meeting with deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero as Gov. Abba Yusuf Kabir ordered his arrest over security purposes.
The Governor in a statement released by his spokesperson Sanusi Bature confirmed the development as the state is currently submerged in a political crisis over the Emirship position.
Gov. Abba in collaboration with the State Assembly reviewed the law enacted by former Governor Abdullah Ganduje which led to the deposition of HRH Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II in 2020.
With the review, the current administration expelled the posts created by his predecessor by returning the Kano Emirate to a single Emirate while reinstating the former Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II back to his rightful position.
While the Governor made the announcement, he reinstated HRH Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II on Friday in a show of power between him and Ganduje.
Deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero after his deposition arrived at Kano at 4:30 am with many alluding that the Emir was on his way to fight for his position after he was dethroned unlawfully.
The return of HRH Aminu Ado Bayero has further exacerbated the situation in the state compelling the Governor to call for his immediate arrest based on security purposes.
The Kano State Police Commissioner Ahmed Gumel in the company of other security operatives chiefs visited the deposed Emir over the incident, calling for calm during the turbulence time.
