Spain secured a 3-0 victory over Croatia in their Group B clash at the 2024 UEFA European Football Championship (EURO 2024) on Saturday.
Spanish forward Alvaro Morata opened the scoring in the 29th minute at the Olympiastadion with a low shot after breaking the offside trap.
Just three minutes later, midfielder Fabian Ruiz doubled the lead with a precise low shot, showcasing his dribbling skills to bypass several defenders.
In the 41st minute, Croatian defender Josko Gvardiol missed a close-range opportunity to score.
Veteran defender Dani Carvajal added a third goal in the 47th minute, converting a cross from young star Yamal.
In the 78th minute, Rodri’s challenge on Bruno Petkovic resulted in a penalty for Croatia. Although Spanish goalkeeper Unai Simón saved Petkovic’s initial attempt, Petkovic scored on the rebound. However, the goal was disallowed following a VAR check, and the match continued at 3-0.
With this victory, Spain climbed to the top of Group B with 3 points, while Croatia fell to the bottom with zero points.
