The resolution for the suspension of Russia from the UN Human Rights Council has received a boost as many countries voted in favor of Russia’s suspension from the Council over alleged abuse and violation of Human Rights in Ukraine.
The decision for the immediate suspension of Russia from the Council was due to the recently released videos and pictures of dead bodies lying aimlessly on the street of Bucha, where Russian military operation recently took place, witness in the area of Bucha attest to the criminating act perpetrated by the Russians army, which covers the unjust killing of civilians, raping, maiming and vandalizing of properties.
The US ambassador at the UN asserted that Russia had committed an unforgivable offense with their massacre of innocent and unarmed civilians in Ukraine, it was due to the systemic events that led her to push the motion for Russia’s suspension from the Human Rights Council.
The decision which was subjected to voting was met with success, as 93 members vote in support of the suspension, while 24 members were against it, with 58 members abstaining from the decision process.
According to an analysis released, the majority of countries in support were the US-led and her allies, while 9 African countries voted in support, 9 against while others abstained from the voting process.
China and their Eastern Counterparts continued to show solidarity for Russia, with the majority of them either voting against or abstaining.
Despite the support, the majority of votes reeks in from Europe and the Americas which took the majority of the votes, the decision to suspend Russia from the Council was passed, an action which didn’t go well with the Russian Ambassador which made them call for the immediate removal of Russia from the Council.
