Al-Qaeda jihadists have claimed responsibility for the attack that lead to the death of 14 Malian soldiers and others injured on Tuesday.
The statement by the army read that Al-Qaeda in connection with other groups engaged in a fight with the army with homemade bombs between Mopti and Ségou.
The first deadly attack between the jihadists and the Malian soldiers where many casualties took place on the road between Tenenkou and Macina.
The second attack transpired with the use of a local explosive device, which led to the death of seven Malian soldiers and five mercenaries, with dozens injured between Koumara and Macina.
Mali has continued to be the den of jihadist assaults since 2012, leading to a multidimensional crisis ranging from political, economic, and humanitarian issues.
The attack of the jihadist has spread to neighboring countries including Burkina Faso, and Niger, and spread toward the south.
