Russia’s defense ministry on Wednesday validated the appointment of the head of Russian General Staff, Valery Gerasimov has appointed as the new head of Moscow joint forces in Ukraine.
Following his appointment, General Sergey Surovikin have been appointed as his deputy.
It was disclosed that the appointment came at a period when the Russians need to raise the operation command level and also closer coordination between various services and branches of the armed forces.
The new head of forces in Ukraine, General Valery Gerasimov is known as a top military commander and military strategist who is the author of the “Gerasimov doctrine.”
The appointment of Gen. Gerasimov will be looking also to improve logistics support and command effectiveness in the troops in Ukraine.
Gen. Oleg Salyukov and Colonel Gen. Aleksey Kim have also been appointed his deputies.
