Cameroon on Thursday became the first team to qualify for the AFCON Round of 16 after an emphatic comeback victory against the Ethiopian team.
The Indomitable Lions are now through to the next round of the competition which they hosted, courtesy of a brace from their players.
Vincent Aboubakar and Karl Toko-Ekambi scored a brace each as Cameroon defeated Ethiopia 4-1 in their second match at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Cameroonian national team is now the first team to have a successive comeback victory in this year’s competition, after giving out a goal lead to their opponents.
Ethiopia only needed four minutes to keep their chances of qualification alive but was dent a blow a few minutes later with a well-deserved goal from Ekambi.
With the first-half ending in a stalemate, the host continues with their flying start by giving the visitor a shock second-half defeat, with a brace from Aboubakar who tops the scoring chart (by 4 goals) before Ekambi ended the game with his second of the match.
With a successive defeat, the Ethiopian team is now on the brink of eviction from the competition.
