The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party is facing an imminent disqualification as the general election comes up next month.
The charges against the Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi is pressed forward by the National Rescue Movement (NRM) who through their counsel, Mohammed Danjuma accused Peter Obi of possessing dual citizenship, and asked for injunctions restraining the INEC from recognizing him or providing him with the opportunity to contest for the election.
The complainant said the act of Peter Obi contravene the Nigerian 1999 Constitution, urging the court to order his disqualification.
The NRM accused Peter Obi of acquiring Dallas in Texas citizenship, saying it again was not sections 1 and 137 of the Federation constitution.
The plaintiff presented pictures and video evidence that Peter Obi was given foreign citizenship.
The presiding judge on the case, Justice Inyang Edem faulted the accuser for not serving the originating summon to the defendants.
The case has been rescheduled for mention on February 10, with the court’s promise to nullify the charges should the complainant fail to serve the court process to Peter Obi before the next sitting.
