Three Beninois family members were slain by a soldier in Niger State on Friday in the Babana neighborhood of the Borgu Local Government Area.
Alhaji Suleiman Yarima, the chairman of the LGA, acknowledged the occurrence and urged the residents of Babana to maintain their composure despite the deaths of the family members, assuring them that the Nigerian Army was in control of the situation.
He also gave the populace assurances that the law would support them.
Police Public Relations Officer for the Niger State Police Command, DSP Abiodun Wasiu, declined to comment when called because the Army was in charge of the situation.
Audu Alkali, a local who spoke about the tragedy, claimed that the three victims died while walking home from the market.
