As part of their early preparation for the tourney, Ethiopia’s national football team has arrived in Cameroon for the upcoming AFCON tournament.
Their arrival in the host country has made them the first of the 24 countries team that qualified for the tournament to have arrived in Cameroon
Mr Abele Gelagoy who is the head of Ethiopian delegations says, it was necessary to take the lead in order for the player to get used to themselves and the Cameroonian in general.
While giving a brief conference, Mr Abele said:
“Yes indeed we should arrive early to prepare ourselves and acclimatize to Cameroon, especially with the climate and weather here; especially we wanted to do something different with our team”
The Ethiopian travelled to Cameroon with a 28 man squad after the country Football Federation had ordered for an additional 3 players to join up with the initial selected 25.
What Was Said?
Ethiopian head coach Wubetu Abate on their reason for arriving so early for the tournament said: “It’s true that it’s too early to arrive in Cameroon but not very early for a preparation, beaus you know some teams have started their preparation one or two days before, we are here, so we will start our training sessions today”.
The Ethiopian team consists of majorly, local players and the head coach has affirmed that he’s confident that they shall provide the needed result.
He said: “It’s a young team, most of them play at home in the local league, and we have two players who play away. So if we have young players it shows that there will be energy, there is motivation to play and I think that is the most important thing.”
Following their arrival in Cameroon, the Ethiopian football team took a Covid test before they were moved to their hotel where they will reside throughout their stay.
Ethiopia Group Stage Opponents
