A Lagos State court heard testimony from a 40-year-old businessman in Nigeria named Kayode Jacob on Tuesday regarding an alleged N4.3 million New Zealand visa fraud.
Jacob, who has no established residential address, was charged with two counts of theft and fraud. He entered a not guilty plea to both counts.
He allegedly conned three people out of N2.35 million, N1.35 million, and N0.6 million at various periods.
The defendant committed the offenses between August 2020 and October/November 2021 in the Imeke, Badagry area of Lagos, according to the prosecutor, ASP Ikem Uko.
According to Uko, the defendant obtained N2,350,000 from a man named Owonare Adeniyi on the false pretense of obtaining a two-year working visa for New Zealand, which was later found to be untrue.
