The National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, gave more details on the ban on indomie instant noodles yesterday, revealing that the agency’s special flavor, ‘special chicken flavor, was not yet available in Nigeria.
This was disclosed by Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye in a statement made available to Vanguard that the results of the tests and analysis of the products would be made public.
Adeyeye, while shedding more light on the banned product, assured Nigerians that the product would be thoroughly investigated both at the factory and market levels as the department began random sampling and testing of indomie noodles, including the seasoning, for the presence of ethylene oxide.
The public is also informed that the infamous Indomie instant noodles ‘special chicken flavor’ is not yet approved for sale in Nigeria by NAFDAC. It is important to note that noodles are on the federal government’s import prohibition list and therefore are not permitted to be imported to Nigeria.
