The National Commissioner of the Bureau, Dr. Vincent Olatunji disclosed that currently, the Bureau is investigating over 110 companies in Nigeria over allegations of a data breach. He added that the companies under investigation include banks, telecom firms, gaming companies, and online lending companies.
He further said the vulnerabilities in these sectors are high partly due to the capabilities of intrusive mobile apps they deploy in rendering their services.
The Bureau recently authorized other 48 Data Protection Compliance Organisations (DPCOs), which increased the number of DPCOs to 138. According to the National Commissioner, this has boosted the wealth and job creation in the ecosystem.
