Tana River leaders have urged Kenya’s President, William Ruto to invest hugely in irrigation projects. The Tana River leaders urged the President to invest in three mega irrigation schemes in the county and Food security will be attained.
The leaders say President Ruto should ensure Tana and Athi Rivers Development Authority, which was once a major rice production in the county. The leaders also want more investment in the Hola and Bura irrigation schemes, which were major projects that can help in culminating food shortage in the country.
One of the leaders said they support the idea of the President to ensure the Galana Kulalu food security project was not deflected into a scheme or the land to be subdivided into private properties.
