The Ports and Terminal Multipurpose Limited has increased the price of a forklift by an additional N50,000 per unit.
The additional charge will be effective starting on May 1, 2023, according to a notice spotted by our correspondent on Saturday and signed by the PTML management and dated April 17.
The charge was justified by the notice’s explanation of the prohibitive expense of handling cars with a forklift.
“PTML would like to make its esteemed clients aware that starting on May 1, 2023, all forklifted cars will incur an extra fee of N50,000 per unit.
This fee is required to offset the high expense of using a forklift to move the automobiles from the ship to the final delivery, according to the notification.
The Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents’ interim national president, Mr. Kayode Farinto, responded by calling the accusation illegitimate but assuring the public that the organization is taking action.
