The official spokesperson of Myanmar’s military junta, Zaw Min Tun, stated on Thursday that there have been “strong attacks” by rebels, urging government workers to prepare for emergencies. Additionally, local media reported that individuals with military experience are being called upon to be ready for service.
Throughout the years, Myanmar’s military has engaged in conflicts with ethnic minority groups and various rebel forces. However, the 2021 coup has resulted in an unprecedented level of coordination amongst anti-military entities, posing the most significant challenge to the army in years.
Zaw Min Tun mentioned that the military is currently facing “intense assaults from a considerable number of armed rebel soldiers” in different regions, including Shan State in the northeast, Kayah State in the east, and Rakhine State in the west.
According to Zaw Min Tun, certain military positions have been evacuated, and the rebels have been utilizing drones to drop numerous bombs on military outposts.
“The junta is taking immediate measures to effectively safeguard against drone bomb attacks,” stated the spokesperson late on Wednesday.
