The drone crashed on Sunday near the Tula region’s Kireyevsk village, around 400 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, according to the defense ministry.
According to state media in Russia, an explosion after it was brought down injured at least three persons.
Ukraine has previously denied allegations that it used explosive drones to attack Russian civilian targets, and it has not yet made a statement regarding this incident.
Against Ukraine, Moscow has sent hundreds of drones into the air.
The drone, believed to be a Strizh-type (Tu-141) UAV equipped with explosives, is alleged to have been brought down around 15:20 local time (12:20 GMT), leaving a sizable crater in the middle of the town.
