The Federal Government of Nigeria increased the official oil price to N185 per liter on Thursday, January 19, according to media reports.
Nevertheless, the Federal Government also ordered all major oil marketers to comply with the stated new official oil price with immediate effect.
Moreover, An oil and gas analyst told Nairametrics that the official price increase could lead to further un-uniform prices across the country. He explained that retail stations that are already selling at N200 and above per liter, will not revert to N185 per liter immediately.
He further said that the non-uniform price will happen more in rural areas where filling stations are few and the populace is largely unaware of policy changes because they lack the facilities needed to follow up on the trending news.
