Mr. Emmanuel Otache was discovered unconscious under the weight of the rubble in Lagos state’s Magodo-isheri neighborhood on October 12, 2019.
His pregnant wife and three children were found dead, however. In this interview, otache talks about his ordeal and how he has been trying to improve his situation.
Before the incident, I was working in phone accessories, Alema otache, my wife’s mother, died in the building collapse at 32 years old; my first daughter, jummai, who was 13, and my second child, dominion, who was six, and daniels, my three-year-old son, all died when it happened.
On October 12, 2019, the building collapsed. On another building where I lived, a one-story building that was reportedly owned by one Mr. Fatai biodun odutola, who is said to be a footballer in one of the Arab countries, collapsed.
In an attempt to regain consciousness, all of my goods were sold. In my last stock, I had 73 pieces of iPhone 11. I also had various brands of Android phones, which were about 700 to 800 pieces. I had phone pouches and chargers as well.
