Kishida Fumio, the Prime Minister of Japan, touched down in Ghana on Monday, embarking on the second phase of his African tour. During his visit, Fumio held a meeting with Ghana’s President, Nana Akufo-Addo, where both leaders pledged to push for reforms at the United Nations Security Council.
President Akufo-Addo emphasized the need for reform, stating that the current permanent members of the Security Council fail to reflect the current global reality. He called for concerted efforts to promote reform and ensure that the Council is representative of all nations.
The Japanese Prime Minister said he hopes his latest visit will boost cooperation between the two countries across a range of fields, such as the economy, development, and human resources.
Japan and Ghana are serving as non-permanent members of the Security Council.
