According to US federal prosecutors, Jack Teixeira, the airman accused of disclosing classified defense intelligence, may still have access to the information.
Mr. Teixeira was an IT expert at the Massachusetts-based 102nd Intelligence Support Squadron.
Due to his “serious flight risk,” the prosecution is asking that he be detained while in custody until trial.
On Thursday, the 21-year-old must show up for a detention hearing.
Investigators are still trying to figure out how Mr. Teixeira may have released more than 100 pages of sensitive material on US allies and the Ukrainian conflict from a secret dossier.
The attorneys claimed in court documents submitted on Wednesday that Mr. Teixeira posed a “ongoing risk both to the community and the national security of the United States.”
