Alleged intentions to collude with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State, which is now in power, in order to rig the state’s upcoming gubernatorial election, have been rejected by both the Independent National Electoral Commission and the local police.
Gen. Aminu Bande, a PDP candidate for governor in the state, allegedly made the claim at a news conference in Birnin Kebbi, according to NAN.
According to NAN, the candidate said that the INEC and police were working together to run the upcoming elections without using the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).
Additionally, he implied that on the night before the election, ballots will be provided to the winning party to be thumb printed for use on election day.
On Tuesday, the INEC in Kebbi State referred to all of the accusations as being pure fiction and the product of the opposition party’s imagination.
Responding through Muhammed Rabi’u, Deputy Director, Voter Education and Publicity, Kebbi State, INEC claimed that the charges were untrue and insisted that the usage of BVAS had been included in Federal Republic of Nigerian law.
