Greece authorities have called upon the EU and UK in helping to tackle the rising influx of migrants finding their way through into its territory.
Greece called for the EU and UK to help in collaborating with other EU nations as they set to expand their border wall which is said to be implemented to deter more influx of migrants to the country.
Greece has called for support from bordering nations like Cyprus and Italy which are the major entry point for African migrants.
“The task of protecting the border needs the support of European public opinion, the European Union itself, and its constituent members individually,” Mr. Theodorikakos stated.
“It is our steadfast position that member states of first reception cannot be the migrant’s only European destinations.”
Greece called for solidarity from other members of the EU, which they described as a duty upon them that must be fulfilled.
Greece 2022 denied access to over 260,000 migrants into its territory, with over 1,500 suspected traffickers arrested.
