The Kano State Governor, H.E. Abba Yusuf Kabir has ordered the immediate arrest of deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero after news of his arrival earlier today.
This was disclosed in a statement revealed by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature who added that the arrest against the deposed Emir was implemented as tensions increased in the state over his visit.
“As the Chief Security Officer of the state, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has directed the Commissioner of Police to arrest the deposed Emir with immediate effect for disturbing public peace and attempting to destroy the relative peace the state enjoys,” the statement reads.
The deposed Emir arrived in Kano at 4:30 am from the Aminu International Airport before proceeding to the second Emir Palace in Gidan Nassarawa before departing for the main Palace where the reinstated Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II is currently.
The arrival of the deposed Emir after the declaration of the Governor sacking him from the office with immediate effect has met with dissent from the citizens of Kano and majorly those affiliated with former Governor Abdullah Ganduje who served as convoy to HRH Aminu Ado Bayero to retain his seat from his brother.
The Kano State Commissioner Ahmed Gumel in a press statement said he hasn’t received any other to arrest the deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero, as he ensured peace in the state during this period.
The CP and other security operatives are currently meeting with the deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero over the situation.
