In the last eight years, President Muhammad Buhari has declared that the rights of Nigerian journalists have been respected in the country.
Buhari said this during the occasion of world press freedom day while rejoicing with the media about the theme “Shaping a future of rights: freedom of expression as a mechanic of all other human rights.”
“We’ve kept the faith,” he said. We’ve ensured that Nigerian journalists have unequaled their freedom to practice their art, and on this occasion of world press freedom day, we recommit to that resolution, even as we wind down in the office,” Buhari said.
The Commemoration of this year’s anniversary, which marks the 30th anniversary of the united nations general assembly’s resolution declaring an international day for press freedom, was a tribute to media professionals who sacrificed their lives to keep society informed and informed.
