The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Cross River State has called for the arrest of Senator Sandy Onor, governorship candidate of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and former Assistant Inspector General of Police, Joseph Mbu, for allegedly masterminding violence in the state.
However, in a counter-statement, the PDP denied using violence and promised that after the election, they would hold the APC accountable for its atrocities and mayhem against the people.
Chief Okoi Obono-Obla, chairman of the APC campaign council in the state and a former aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, has called on law enforcement agencies to intervene immediately in the ongoing violence.
The party blamed the breakdown of law and order on the PDP flagbearer, Senator Onor, and his campaign committee.
