Cameroon consolidated their Afcon 2021 campaign with a bronze title after overturning a three goals deficit against the Burkina Faso side in the last 20 minutes to put them on level, which they later won by a penalty shoot-out.
The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon created one of the biggest comebacks in the history of the competition to pacify themselves from what would have been a failed end to their campaign after losing to the Pharaoh team on a penalty shoot-out to put an end to their dream of winning the title after being tipped among the favorite.
Goals from Yago, Ouattara, and Onana own goal had put the Burkina Faso team on the front line of winning the bronze, but they were later met with surprise after a strike from Bahoken and Aboubakar double turned the match into an epic one which was later settled in the penalty shoot-out after 120 minutes.
The Indomitable Lions converted all their five kicks, with Onana saving Toure’s penalty to win the bronze for the home hosts in the about to conclude AFCON. Their victory in the third round was their first after 50 years.
The AFCON will come to an end today with the chase for gold between Senegal who is aiming for their first AFCON title and Egypt who are looking to consolidate themselves with another trophy in their title cabinet.
