Early on Tuesday, a truck struck a mosque in Suleja, a town in Niger State, seriously injuring three people, including a little kid.
Usman Haruna, an eyewitness, told our correspondent over the phone that the accident happened at 6 a.m., by which time most of the worshipers who had gathered for the early morning prayers had dispersed.
As the truck crashed into the mosque’s back section at around six in the morning, most people had already left the mosque after the morning prayers and only a handful remained to finish their supplications.
“The vehicle crashed as the driver attempted to make a turn on a curvy route quite near the mosque.
He added that there were ladies and a child among the worshippers trapped in the rumbles and that the trailer had fallen onto the area of the mosque where women and children pray.
“Three individuals, among them a kid, were buried under the debris but were subsequently found and sent to the Suleja general hospital for treatment.”
