There has been an incident of ballot box snatching in the ongoing bye-election in Unit 5, Ward 13 in Oyinmo, Ikare-Akoko, of Akoko North-East and Akoko North-West Federal Constituencies of Ondo State on Saturday.
The attack is said to have been perpetrated by a group of men suspected to be political hoodlums, leading to the disruption of the voting process in the state.
According to eyewitnesses who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the hoodlums’ attack instilled panic among the voters, leading many of them to flee in fear.
An anonymous observer disclosed that the incident took place shortly before noon, following a minimum of 63 individuals who had already voted.
Furthermore, the observer mentioned that despite the hoodlums successfully stealing the ballot box, they left behind the result sheet, BVAS machine, and other related materials at the scene.
According to a report from NAN, the polling unit recorded a total of 407 registered voters for the election.
