Russian President, Vladimir Putin has offered a new threat to NATO, saying the war in Ukraine could go nuclear should the country be defeated in her ongoing military operation in Ukraine.
Disclosing the information, President Putin’s deputy chairman of the security council, Dmitry Medvedev wrote on telegram on Thursday saying, “The defeat of a nuclear power in a conventional war may trigger a nuclear war.”
The Russian former president stressed that a nuclear powers country has never lost a major conflict on which its fate depends, should it turn the way it didn’t predict, it will have to go nuclear.
The new threat comes after NATO members are planning to meet on Friday in Germany to discuss new support for Ukraine.
Speaking directly to NATO, Medvedev advised them to think about the risks of their policy as Russia is ready to use everything in its capacity to battle with an aggressive and arrogant West in Ukraine.
Sparking reactions about the huge amount of aid sent to Ukraine by the West, Russia tags it as a confrontation with them, and if careful measure is not taken, the war could escalate beyond normal reasoning.
The US president, Joe Biden has denied any engagement in the war, saying a confrontation between Russia and NATO could spark another major war in the world.
