Yesterday, traditional rulers in Nigeria, under the umbrella of the Yoruba obas forum, urged the new administration of asiwaju bola tinubu to grant monarchy roles in accordance with the 1969 constitution.
The monarchs also argued that nothing could prevent the president-elect and vice president-elect from assuming office on May 29.
The president and general secretary of the traditional rulers’ forum, oba Samuel Adeoye, and the olukotun of ikotun-ile, oba abdulrasaq abioye, made a statement, claiming that constitutional roles for monarchs in the region would promote stability in the polity.
The monarchs also warned against any attempt to stifle Tinubu and Shettima’s swearing-in on May 29, insisting that the inauguration remains sacrosanct.
